How TAC Podiatry Funding Works
The Transport Accident Commission may help pay for clinically necessary podiatry treatment related to injuries sustained in an eligible transport accident.
First 90 Days
Early Treatment After an Accident
During the first 90 days after your accident, TAC may fund accident-related podiatry without prior approval if you have a TAC claim number and your doctor or another health professional recommends the treatment.
After 90 Days
Ongoing Podiatry Treatment
Podiatry treatment beyond 90 days generally requires TAC approval before further funded treatment. Your podiatrist may need to provide an Allied Health Treatment and Recovery Plan.
Prior Approval
Orthotics & Additional Services
Certain orthotic devices, orthomechanical services and other treatments require specific TAC approval. Prior approval is also needed if more than six months have passed since your last TAC-funded treatment.

TAC Billing
TAC Podiatry Fees & Payment Arrangements
TAC publishes a schedule of maximum payment rates for podiatry consultations and other approved services.
Depending on your claim and the provider's billing arrangements, TAC may pay a provider directly or reimburse you at the applicable TAC rate.
If a provider charges more than the TAC rate, an out-of-pocket gap may apply. Any fees and billing arrangements should be confirmed before treatment proceeds.

Does TAC cover podiatry treatment?

Do I need a referral for TAC podiatry?
TAC requires treatment to be recommended by a doctor or another health professional for its initial 90-day funding arrangements. A formal GP referral is not necessarily required in every circumstance. Contact our team if you're unsure what documentation is needed.
Can I receive TAC podiatry within the first 90 days?
