Diabetes Foot Assessment
Foot care is often one of the most overlooked side effects of Diabetes. People with diabetes are prone to having various foot-related issues and therefore taking care of your feet is very important to avoid further complications.
Our Berwick podiatrists perform comprehensive diabetes-related foot assessments including:
✔ Comprehensive Foot Assessments – Checking circulation, nerve sensation, skin, and foot structure.
✔ Toe-Brachial Index (TBI) Testing – A simple, non-invasive test of toe blood flow, often more reliable than ankle doppler ultrasound tests in diabetes.
✔ Skin & Nail Care – Safe management of corns, callus, and ingrown or thickened nails.
✔ Footwear & Orthotics – Advice on supportive shoes and custom devices to reduce pressure.
✔ Biomechanical assessments – To help identify pressure areas, prevent ulcers/wounds and diabetes related foot complications
✔ Wound & Ulcer Care – Early treatment to prevent infection and hospitalisation.
✔ Education & Support – Guidance on daily checks, hygiene, and long-term prevention.
✔ Ongoing Monitoring – Coordinating with your GP and diabetes team for complete care.
These foot assessments may help prevent any complications and improve foot health.
We accept GP referral under Medicare, and can claim the rebate for you on the spot.
However you don’t need a referral to see us, and we can process private health insurance through HICAPS so you only pay the gap.
