What is a Bunion?
A bunion (hallux valgus) is a bony bump that forms on the side of the big toe joint.
Over time, the big toe drifts inward towards the smaller toes, causing pain, swelling, and difficulty finding comfortable shoes.

Common Symptoms

  • Visible bump on the side of the big toe

  • Redness, swelling, or tenderness around the joint

  • Pain when walking or wearing shoes

  • Calluses or corns where the toes rub together

  • Limited movement of the big toe in advanced cases

  • Wearing tight, narrow, or high-heeled shoes

  • Genetics (family history of bunions)

  • Foot structure abnormalities (flat feet, low arches)
