Biomechanical Assessment (How we assess your movement)
What is a biomechanical assessment?
A podiatry biomechanical assessment is a detailed evaluation of how your feet, legs, and body move and function, especially during walking (gait) and standing.
Its purpose is to identify any abnormalities, imbalances, or mechanical issues that may be contributing to pain or injury.
Alignment Check: Shoulders, pelvis, knees, legs, ankles, and feet
Gait Analysis: Watching how you walk, sometimes using slow-motion video
Pressure Plate Mapping: Measuring how your feet bear weight while standing and walking
Joint Flexibility: Checking range of motion and screening for hypermobile joints
Muscle Strength Testing: Evaluating foot and leg muscles for weakness or imbalance
Balance & Pelvic Stability: Assessing how steady and supported your movements are
Limb Length Screening: Checking for differences in leg length
Our podiatrists will create a personalised treatment plan just for you. This may include:
Orthoses: To improve foot function and take pressure off painful areas
Shockwave Therapy: To stimulate healing and reduce stubborn pain
Stretching Program: To improve flexibility and ease tight muscles
Strengthening Program: To build up weaker muscles for better support
Padding or Strapping: To cushion or stabilise your feet and ankles
Footwear Review: Checking your shoes and advising on the best options for comfort and support
Dry Needling: To release tight muscles and reduce pain
Foot Mobilisation/Manipulation: Hands-on techniques to improve joint movement and restore function
